Library Schedules Annual Book Signing for
Merry the Christmas Fairy’s Latest Adventure

Benton, KY – The Marshall County Public Library is proud to announce its annual book signing event featuring Merry the Christmas Fairy and the Rowdy Rabbits, written by library director Tammy Blackwell and illustrated by local fifth graders.

This beloved series, now in its sixth installment, follows Merry the Christmas Fairy, Santa’s librarian, who resides in a magical gingerbread library at the North Pole. Merry teaches children that by opening books around the holidays, they release a bit of the book’s magic into the air, which helps Santa’s reindeer fly.

As part of the library’s mission to promote early literacy, every kindergarten and PreK student in Marshall County Public Schools receives a free copy of the book. Additional copies are distributed at the library and local Christmas events. This year, the Lions’ Club of Benton generously donated funds to support printing costs.

Studies highlight that having age-appropriate books at home during childhood fosters academic success. Tammy Blackwell shared, “Merry represents the magic of books, reading, and the holidays. My favorite part is seeing the amazing artwork created by our fifth-grade illustrators. Their skill and creativity inspire me every year.”

The fifth-grade illustrators will hold a special book signing on December 14 at 1:00 p.m. at the Benton branch of the library. Families, friends, and fans are encouraged to attend and celebrate their talent and hard work.
