Remembering the Queen of Soul

aretha-franklin-1-768-r25.jpgToday we remember Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul, who passed away in her Detroit home the morning of August 16th at the age of 76 surrounded by family and friends.

Franklin, the first woman inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, had a prolific career spanning more than fifty years. In addition to 18 Grammy awards, Franklin, whose voice was declared a national resource by the Michigan Legislature, was also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

She made a lasting impact on the music industry and will be greatly missed.

Honor her memory by streaming her hits on Hoopla and Freegal.
